What do you want? Why can’t you keep what you want? What make some simple things so hard to attain and keep once you get some? I’m talking about freedom, money, happiness, comfort and so on. We all crave more of these things, but they are hard to hold onto. Our summer series is going to be focusing on what people desperately want more of in their lives but either can’t seem to get, or can’t seem to keep.
The question of what is it we want was asked by a writer at Forbes Magazine in 2014, and resulted in an article that lists the top 8 things people most want but can’t attain or keep. If you would like to read that article it can be found here. The writer even offers answers, suggestions on how to pursue and attain them… but you will find more questions are raised by her suggestions than solutions. That’s where we hope to enter the conversation.
At Island of Hope, we believe that Jesus came to give life, abundantly. He died to give us freedom, from bondage to sin, from the demands of the world. He rose again to make it possible for all of us to discover true, lasting, eternal happiness and joy, and so much more. These unfulfilled needs we all have can be met in a relationship with Jesus, if we dare to look. If you are joining us during the summer, get caught up by listening online to the messages you have missed. We continue the series this Sunday, 11am, at Island of Hope!
